The cup of coffee becomes business

A growing number of Italian companies specialized in the manufacture of caffè.e other infusions. 1,112 companies are currently active in this activity (+ 0.6% on 2011). They work mainly coffee (734 enterprises) sector, which increased by 3.1% in 2011 and focuses in Campania (83 companies active), Lombardy (82), Tuscany (74) and Sicily (70). Among the provinces, the total number of firms, is leading Naples (66 firms, 5.9% of the national total), followed by Palermo (48), Rome (45), Bari (40) and Catania (39). Milan is sixth with 36 active companies, 3.2% nationally. Also increases the interchange of coffee: over 2.3 billion euros in 2011 (+35.9% compared to 2010). Positive trend for the tea that goes da57 a57, 4 million euros (+0.6%). In particular, in 2011, was imported coffee for over 1.4 billion and exported to almost 900 million (+44.1% +24.6% imports and exports compared to 2010). But where did the coffee that is worked in Italy? The coffee is not roasted and not decaffeinated is imported mainly from Brazil (43.5%), Vietnam (12.4%) and India (11.1%). That instead decaffeinated, according to processing provided by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan on data from the register of companies to the first quarter of 2012 and 2011 and Istat related to 2010 and 2011, comes almost entirely from Germany (94.9%). It is mainly in Switzerland (71.5%) roasted coffee that comes in our country. But the processed coffee in Italy is also appreciated abroad: in 2011 Italy exported roasted coffee (not decaffeinated) to a value of almost 834 million euros, intended mainly to Germany (15.3%), France (13 , 4%) and Austria (7.7%)
